We all have expectations after an injury that the rehab process will be straight forward and I will do this this and this and be back resuming activities at this time. This is not always the case, there will be obstacles in our path, and there will be setbacks but being mentally prepared for this will make it so much easier to accept and you will feel less frustrated.
How many times have we heard that a player will be back on the pitch in 8 weeks and it has taken him 12 or 6 months has gone onto 10 months. This is because as much as health professionals stick their neck out and give you a timescale of your road to recovery (from experience), each individual is unique and some may progress nicely and others will not but we have to prepare for that and that is what makes our job so interesting. The future is bright the future is wavy!!
